Start Time: 3 p.m.
Location: Knight Sports Arena (Buena Vista, Va.)
About the Knights
The Knights fell on the road to No. 15 Mary Washington (13-2, 7-1 CAC) on Thursday night. Southern Virginia has a rematch with Wesley College after losing to the Wolverines back on Jan. 4 by a 67-51 score. The Knights ended the first half with the Wolverines up by just two, 31-29, but fell behind in the second half and were unable to make up the deficit.
Both junior guard Preston Eaton (16) and senior forward Wesley Evans (13) scored in double figures against the Wolverines last time out. Eaton shot 50 percent, while Evans went 3-for-4 from the arc and totaled four rebounds. As a team, the Knights were 3-for-6 from the free throw line, 41.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent on three-pointers.
Eaton and Wesley look to continue to be defensive and offensive forces for the Knights as they look to surpass their previous marks against the Wolverines. As a team, the Knights will have to be more aggressive on the glass and ease up on fouls as their opponent shoots 73.2 percent from the free-throw line.
About the Wolverines
Wesley currently ranks second in the Capital Athletic Conference with a 6-1 record and an overall record of 13-1. The Wolverines lost 83-73 to the CAC's third-place team, Marymount, on Thursday night.
As a team, the Wolverines typically out-shoot, out-rebound, out-steal and out-block their opponents, but the Knights out-shot Wesley both from the field and the three-point line on Jan. 4. The Knights, however, were out-rebounded 49-25 and fouled 30 times, giving their opponent an opportunity to get to the charity stripe where they shot 70 percent on the afternoon.
Senior Guard James Livingston is a key player for the Wolverines as he is averaging 15.9 ppg, shooting 85.7 percent from the free throw line and earns 2.4 steals per game. Senior center David Langan is leading the team with an average of 16.6 ppg, 10.4 rebounds per game and 1.4 blocks per game.
