BUENA VISTA, Va.—Senior Isaac Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) of the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
"Not only is Isaac [Jacobson] deserving of this award for how he's leading our team this year, but he's also getting the job done academically," said first-year Head Coach Tony Caputo. "I'm proud of him for what Isaac has accomplished at Southern Virginia."
The all-district teams are divided into eight districts and are separated by NCAA Divisions I, II, III and College Division—including NAIA, two-year and independent institutions. To be recognized, one must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and serve as a key contributor to the team.
I. Jacobson was selected as representatives of District One—comprised of colleges and universities from 16 different states ranging from Maine to North Carolina.
Point guard I. Jacobson had one of the best statistical seasons by a Southern Virginia player, ranking second on the team in scoring at 14.2 points-per-game, while leading the Knights in rebounds (5.8), assists (3.7) and steals (2.2) per-game from the point guard position.
The co-captain finished in three years at Southern Virginia with 912 career points ranking him fourth overall in program history.
I. Jacobson is the fifth member of men's basketball to earn academic all-district honors—Nathaniel Mann (2006-07), Chris Pendleton (2007-08), Bryce Pendleton (2008-09) and Spenser Briggs (2011-12) previously earned the award.
