UNIONTOWN, Pa.—Senior shooting guard Casey Nye (Kayesville, Utah) today was named to the 2013 USCAA All-Tournament Team after leading the Knights with a combined 35 points in two games at this year's national tournament.
"Casey is very deserving of this recognition," said Head Coach Tony Caputo, who guided the Knights to their fewest losses (17-7) and second-highest winning percentage (.708) ever in his first season as Southern Virginia's head coach. "He has been a great player at Southern Virginia for four years now and he'll be sorely missed next season."
Nye's All-Tournament selection adds another honor to one of the most decorated careers in Southern Virginia men's basketball history.
During his four years at Southern Virginia, Nye won more games (73-35) than any player in program history, while also finishing with the highest career winning percentage (.675) of any Knight. He was a three-time USCAA All-American selection—honorable mention as a sophomore, first team as a junior and second team as a senior—who helped the program to its best season (24-8; .750) and first national championship in 2010-11.
Nye ranks third on Southern Virginia's all-time scoring list with 1,275 total points after averaging 13.7 point per game for his career. This past season, Nye led Southern Virginia for the second straight season with 15.9 points per game.
