Written by Chris Pendleton

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Led by a balanced offensive attack—fourteen different Knights scored during Wednesday's victory—the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team swept its season series with Barber-Scotia College running away from the Mighty Sabers with an 80-56 wire-to-wire win in The Barn.

Sophomore Jonathan Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) led the way for Southern Virginia (12-9) with his second consecutive 17-point outing, while also grabbing four rebounds and four steals.

Junior Casey Nye (Kaysville, Utah), who leads Southern Virginia at 14.4 points per game this season, was the only other Knight to reach double-digits finishing with eleven points, while fellow junior Isaac Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) was the Knights' top player making on the evening dishing out six assists to go along with nine points and six boards.

The Knights' bench outscored Barber-Scotia's 34-14 on the night. Rebounding also played a key role in Wednesday's victory as Southern Virginia held a 46-18 advantage on the glass, leading to 24 second-chance points for the Knights compared to two for the Mighty Sabers.

Southern Virginia led the entire way scoring the game's first five points before jumping out to an 18-6 lead over Barber-Scotia (5-20) on a made jump shot by Ed Greenhalgh (Roy, Utah) with 12:39 remaining in the first half.

The Knights pushed their advantage to 19 points (41-22) on a J. Jacobson jumper just before the half and never looked back leading by as many 28 on the way to their third consecutive victory.

Men's basketball has now won a program-record 19 straight games at home and is now one win away from a back-to-back undefeated seasons in The Barn. Southern Virginia is now 33-3 (.917) at home under fourth-year Head Coach Brian Pendleton.

The Knights have two days off before traveling to Tennessee Temple University on Saturday, Feb. 18 for a rematch of their Jan. 14th home win over the Crusaders.
