Men's Basketball Opens Season With Win

BRISTOL, Va. – After trailing Virginia Intermont College by one point at half time, the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team outscored the Cobras 52-42 in the second half on its way to a nine-point victory in Wednesday's opening game of the 2010-11 season.

Southern Virginia (1-0) got off to a slow start against Virginia Intermont (0-3) falling behind by as many as seven in the first half while shooting only 36 percent from the field.  With opening game jitters behind them, the Knights began the second half on a 16-4 run and never trailed again in the contest.
