Longwood Ends Knights' Winning Streak at Eight

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team had its record winning streak stopped at eight games Wednesday evening as the Knights fell to the NCAA Division I Longwood University Lancers 99-64.

Southern Virginia (18-8) fell behind early as Longwood (10-19) opened the game with a torrent of offense, shooting a scorching 67 percent from the field in the first half, including 7-for-10 from behind the arc.

The Lancers cooled down a bit in the second half, but still finished the game at an impressive 60 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range to hand the Knights their worst loss of the season.

Anders Jacobson led the way for Southern Virginia with 16 points. Casey Nye contributed 13 points in the defeat.

Men's basketball looks to rebound on Monday, Feb. 22 when it hosts fellow USCAA school, NCAA Division II Washington Adventist University, in the Knight Sports Arena at 4 p.m.
