Swann's 17 First-Half Points Lead Knights to Victory

BUENA VISTA, Va. Ade Swann led the charge for the Southern Virginia Men's Basketball team as he put up 17 first-half points in leading the team to a 97-49 win over Penn State- Mont Alto. Swann finished with 19-points after going 7-for-7 from the field. He was joined by four other Knight players who scored in double figures.

"It was a convincing win on the scoreboard," said Head Coach Brian Pendleton. "I was happy that we were able to push the issue and get quick points. We still need to correct simple errors. It's still early for us, but we do have a tremendous amount of potential. Ade had a great game, and other players contributed to make the win possible."

Bryce Pendleton chipped in with 15-points on 6-for-14 shooting, while shooting .300 from 3-point range. Terell Johnson led all layers in rebounds with eight boards. SVU was able to play at a break-neck pace as they sought for quick points and quick turnovers. The hosts succeeded, as they forced the Lions into 36 turnovers.

"When we start to run we can be a very difficult team to play against," said Pendleton. "We just need to make sure that we are controlled in that run, or else we can get sloppy, and miss out on key points."

The Knight bench was again a factor as they contributed 48 points to the victory. SVU shot 45 per cent from the field and limited the Lions to 30 per cent on the night. The momentum of the first two home games will have to carry over in a big way for the next Knight opponent. The 2-0 Knights will travel to take on NCAA Division I opponent Liberty Nov. 14. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
