Post Season Reflection

SVU JV Men’s Basketball first year Coach Mike Hamilton took time to reflect upon the junior varsity season and stated that “It was an honor and privilege to be asked to coach the SVU JV program. I would like to thank Athletic Director Tom Longenecker and SVU Head Coach Brian Pendleton for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank SVU JV Coach John Butler for all he did during the season”.

Coach Hamilton went on to say “It was an honor and pure pleasure to work with these young men and see their individual and team progress as the season went along. In a junior varsity program one of the main functions is to help develop the players for the varsity program. I think we did that and Coach Pendleton was able to move a couple of our players up for some games at the end of the varsity season which is still in progress. This will give them an opportunity to further learn the game and experience the level of varsity competition and play.”

Coach Hamilton stated “This was also a season of transition with me as a new and first year college coach. We also experienced some adversity by loosing some key players and starters through injury as evidenced by loosing three games by two points each and some more games by just a few points. I think this was one of those seasons where you can’t just look at the scoreboard or overall record…you have to look at our overall effort given the adversity and in doing so, I am very proud of their effort! My favorite saying to the players is “Basketball is not life but it can help teach you about life”. I think the players learned some life lessons this season.”

Coach Hamilton stated “I am impressed with the SVU Men’s Basketball Program and the level of intensity as well as the SVU student/athletes participation and efforts in all sports.”
