Knights Fall at Home to Maroons

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University field hockey team fell 8-0 at home to the Roanoke Maroons Wednesday night.

The Maroons (7-3) jumped on the board as they scored a trio of goals in the opening quarter for an early 3-0 advantage.

Roanoke controlled the Knights (0-9) offense as they were unable to make a run in the first half. The Maroons added four more goals to take a 7-0 lead at the half.

In the second half of play, the Southern Virginia defense tightened as they limited the Maroons offense.

Roanoke added their final goal of the game in the 40th minute to earn the 8-0 victory.

Despite the loss, freshman goalkeeper Kyla Nase recorded her sixth game with 12+ saves and collected her CAC leading 115th save on the season.

The Knights return to action Friday, Oct. 4 on the road at Sweet Briar with a start time of 4 p.m.
