SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Southern Virginia University field hockey team lost Friday night on the road to Sewanee 7-0.
The Tigers (1-3) offense started early, scoring their first goal at the four-minute mark. Sewanee added two more goals both on penalty corner's to take a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Knights' (0-4) headed into the half down 5-0 after surrendering two more goals in the second quarter.
In the second half, the Tigers extended their lead once more with two goals. Southern Virginia's defense improved in the final quarter of play as they held Sewanee to a scoreless quarter but offensively were unable to cut into the Tiger lead, falling 7-0.
Freshman Kyla Nase was at goal for the Knights where she recorded 12 saves.
Southern Virginia will see the Tigers in a rematch tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at Puett Field.
