Davis Receives D3football.com 2019 All-South Region Honors

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The 15th annual D3football.com All-Region Teams were today announced with senior safety Neil Davis earning All-South Region honors.

"Neil is consistent, we knew we could count on him even early on in his playing career and as a coach that is priceless," said head coach Ed Mulitalo. "He has stepped into his role as leader this year naturally and has been more vocal while setting an example on the field. He is extremely deserving of the honors and accolades he has collected this season. We as a staff are proud of the football player he has become."

Davis becomes the first Southern Virginia football player to receive the award. A total of 75 players were selected from nearly 250 nominations. 

The Salem, Utah, native adds to his 2019 accolades after being named to the All-ODAC Defense First Team, ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, and participating this past weekend in the National Bowl by Spiral.

Davis led the Knights defense with 80 tackles (53 solo and 27 assisted) and 8.5 tackles for loss in his final season. He tallied three interceptions with an 103-yard pick six and seven pass break ups. Davis ended the season second in the ODAC in solo tackles and fourth in total tackles while finishing sixth in interceptions.

He finishes at Southern Virginia as the program's leader in career total tackles as he surpassing 300 tackles to end his career with 308. He is the program's leader in both solo and assisted tackles and interceptions with an incredible 14 interceptions for the Knights.
