BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia University football players Kevin Adams and Skyler Cloward were named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team.
Adams and Cloward receive the honor in Division III from the fifth district and become the first Knights to earn the prestigious honors.
Senior wide receiver Adams currently leads the team in receiving yards per game at 62.8 and has pulled in six touchdowns on the season. His 48 receptions for 565 yards this season were highlighted by a 12 reception, 125-yard game against Randolph-Macon. The 12 receptions set a new program Division III record.
Cloward has shined for the Southern Virginia defensive line for the past three seasons. In his senior season, Cloward has recorded 42 total tackles, one sack, two tackles-for-loss, and one fumble recovery. His best game of the season came in a 30-17 Southern Virginia victory as he collected nine tackles, one sack, and scooped up a fumble.
The duo now becomes eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot that will be announced in December.
Student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 to be eligible for the award and be nominated by the program's sports information director.
The Knights conclude its season at home Saturday, Nov. 16, against Apprentice with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
