Football Heads to TCNJ for Final 2017 Game Friday

Career vs. Pioneers: 1-3. Southern Virginia fell to The College of New Jersey 28-25 in quadruple overtime during the 2016 season.

About the Knights
The Knights are coming off of their second win of the 2017 season. While on the road against William Paterson, the Knights scored a pair of touchdowns to defeat their opponent 16-6.

Seth Hanson scored the first touchdown for the Knights off a 13-yard run. Trevor Laurey returned a blocked field goal for a 63-yard touchdown.

During the season, the Knights have averaged 162.6 yards rushing and 82.8 points passing. Against William Paterson, Southern Virginia shut down the rush, causing William Paterson to have a loss of seven yards rushing throughout the game.

Defensively, the Knights accumulated three sacks, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions and a block.

Southern Virginia Coach Joe DuPaix
This is Coach DuPaix's second season as head coach of Southern Virginia University. Previously, DuPaix was at Brigham Young University (2011-12) as the Cougar's recruiting coordinator and running backs coach. Working under former head coach Bronco Mendenhall, DuPaix was a member of the staff that led the Cougars to an 18-8 overall record which included back-to-back bowl wins.  

Before BYU, DuPaix was a member of the coaching staff at the United States Naval Academy for three years. While there, he coached the slot backs. During his time in Annapolis, the Midshipmen participated in three consecutive bowl games, won two Commander-In-Chief trophies and ranked in the top-ten nationally for rushing offenses each season.

Coach DuPaix is excited to lead the Knights for the second straight year, "I love the way the guys are working and their focus. They are all very committed to the team. For me, it is all about the players."

This will be a fun game and we are excited to play under the lights on Friday. It will be another long trip to New Jersey but the team is excited to get out there and give it they we have.

About the Lions
The College of New Jersey is coming off of an upset win, defeating Christopher Newport University last week 21-19. During the game, the Lions generated 214 yards of offense, most coming from passing. This season, the Lions have accumulated three wins from conference opponents.
