The Knights were able to keep their offense moving forward by converting over fifty percent of their third down attempts. John Harris, a senior from Darby, Pa. was the lead rusher with 53 yards on seven rushes.
On the defensive side, the Knights totaled 80 tackles throughout the course of the game.
Southern Virginia Coach Joe DuPaix
This is Coach DuPaix's second straight season as head coach of Southern Virginia University. Last season, DuPaix led the Knights to a season-opening win over Earlham. Previously, DuPaix was at Brigham Young University (2011-12) as the Cougar's recruiting coordinator and running backs coach. Working under former head coach Bronco Mendenhall, DuPaix was a member of the staff that led the Cougars to an 18-8 overall record which included back-to-back bowl wins.
Before BYU, DuPaix was a member of the coaching staff at the United States Naval Academy for three years. While there, he coached the slot backs. During his time in Annapolis, the Midshipmen participated in three consecutive bowl games, won two Commander-In-Chief trophies and ranked in the top-ten nationally for rushing offenses each season.
Coach DuPaix is excited to lead the Knights for the second straight year, "I love the way the guys are working and their focus. They are all very committed to the team. For me, it is all about the players."
