BUENA VISTA, Va.—The United States Collegiate Athletic Association today announced senior defensive back Robert Williams as USCAA Defensive Player of the Week due to his performance in last Saturday's 17-10 comeback win over Edward Waters College

"Robert [Williams] has been a solid contributor on defense for four years," said fourth-year Head Coach DeLane Fitzgerald. "He is deserving of this award after a great performance in his final game as a Knight."

R. Williams (St. Cloud, Fla.) led Southern Virginia by tying his career-high with nine tackles (8 solo, 1 assisted) while adding one tackle-for-loss and a pass break-up against the Tigers to cap his four-year career.

He finished fifth on the squad in 2012 with 56 total tackles (39 solo, 17 assisted) and added four pass break-ups, making R. Williams the career program leader at Southern Virginia with 21 total pass break-ups as a Knight.
