BUENA VISTA, Va.−The United States Collegiate Athletic Association today announced freshman Frank Taitano as USCAA Special Teams Player of the Week

Taitano (Washington, D.C.) had an impressive run as he broke off an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown—only the third kickoff return for a touchdown in Southern Virginia football's ten-year history—during the third quarter on Saturday against fellow-USCAA opponent Ave Maria.

Taitano finished with a career-high 198 all-purpose yards, including 102 kickoff return yards, while adding a 30-yard score on the ground in the first quarter to give him two touchdowns on the day.

"Frank deserves the honor for his all-around performance on Saturday," said fourth-year Head Coach DeLane Fitzgerald. "We have dangerous kickoff returners in Frank and Dakota [Winsor] that give us another viable option to put points on the board when our kickoff return team executes the blocks and creates a formidable wedge for them to run through."
