Itaaehau Named NAIA Independent Freshman Player of the Week

BUENA VISTA, Va. Freshman defensive lineman, Fine Itaaehau, has been named the NAIA Independent Freshman Player of the Week for his efforts in a win over Ferrum. Itaaehau played a monster of a game against the Panthers, as SVU was able to record the first win against FC in program history.

The scoring, for the Knights, started with Itaaehau, as he picked off a Ferrum pass, and rumbled 70-yards for a touchdown, to give the visitors the early lead. The lineman's efforts didn't end there, as he contributed 11-total tackles.

Itaaehau also had 3.5-tackles for loss, which totaled a loss of 16-yards. He added a sack-and-a-half to that total, for a loss of 12-yards.

The award is the second for the Knights this season, as Matt Mellor was named the NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week, for his punting efforts against Concord earlier in the season. The Knights will look for two wins-in-a-row when they host Brevard College, Sep 25. Game time is set for 4:00 pm at Parry McCluer High School.
