Neely Pendleton was named head Spirit Squad Coach after her first year at the helm of Southern Virginia's Cheer Team.
Pendleton graduated from Southern Virginia with a Bachelors of Art in Spanish and a minor in early childhood education. While attending Southern Virginia she was a member of the varsity cheer team for and served as co-captain before coaching the team as a junior and senior. She was a student travel advisor for travel study program to Madrid, Spain and a member of the Spanish club.
After graduating she served for two years as the head coach of the cheerleading program before accompanying her husband to graduate school at Virginia Tech.
Currently Pendleton is currently pursuing her Spanish teacher-licensure certification at the University of Virginia at Wise and working in the admissions department of Southern Virginia.
Prior to Southern Virginia, Pendleton worked as a Spanish teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg and Riner, Virginia. From 2013 to 2015 she served as the head cheerleading coach at Blacksburg High School and Auburn Middle School.
Coach Pendleton served a Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tempe, Arizona from 2007 to 2009.
Neely and her husband, Bryce, currently reside in Buena Vista, Virginia with their puppy, Tia.
Stacey Hanson enters her first year as the assistant cheer coach.
Hanson was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where she started her cherrleading career in middle and high school.
After graduating high school, Stacey attended college at BYU-Idaho where she participated on the stunt team. While there she met her husband, Seth, and they moved to Boise, Idaho to work and finish school at Boise State University.
Currently Stacey serves as the Accounts Payable Coordinator at Southern Virginia. She plans to finish her degree in Accounting.
Stacey and Seth, who is a member of the Southern Virginia football team, currently reside in Buena Vista, Virginia.
