April Harris is entering her third year as cheerleading advisor at Southern Virginia University.
Including working with cheerleading at Southern Virginia, Harris coaches tumbling at Rockbridge Extreme—a competition cheer gym in Buena Vista, Va—and has served as a Zumba Fitness instructor since 2010.
Prior to Southern Virginia, Harris coached tumbling at the YMCA and gave private instruction at Natural Bridge Elementary School from 2008-11.
A graduate of Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Va., Harris was a standout high school cheerleader for three years, including earning All-America honors as a junior.
Harris lives in Rockbridge County, Va., with her husband Jason. They have four children.
Sara Hansen enters her second year as an assistant cheer coach and fifth overall at Southern Virginia University.
Before leaving Southern Virginia for three years from 2009-12, she served as the cheer team’s head coach from 2006-09. The 2014-15 athletics season marks her 11th year of coaching cheer.
She also serves as the junior varsity cheer advisor at Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista.
Hansen competed in cheer for six years between junior high, high school and two years at the University of Utah (1999-01).
She earned a license to practice cosmetology in 2011 and is presently pursuing a real estate license.
Her husband, Peter, is an assistant football coach at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., and the two are proud parents of daughter, Hailee, and son, Kellen.
