Dave Ramsey is head assistant and pitching coach for the Southern Virginia University baseball team.
In 2012, Ramsey helped the Southern Virginia pitchers to rank second in the program's 14 years of existence with a 4.93 team ERA, and assist the Knights to their fourth consecutive USCAA Small College World Series appearance.
In his first season with Southern Virginia, Ramsey led the pitching staff to 6.66 strikeouts-per-nine-innings—second- most in program history—and helped the Knights to a fourth-place finish at the 2012 USCAA National Tournament.
Prior to Southern Virginia, Ramsey served as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Eastern Mennonite University (NCAA DIII) from 1999-2011 highlighted by the 2001 squad that finished with 29 wins and a number-three seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)—both program records.
While with the Royals, Ramsey coached current Philadelphia Phillies catcher and two-time ODAC Player of the Year Erik Kratz.
Ramsey also made stops as assistant coach at Christopher Newport University (NCAA DIII) and as head coach at Nelson County High School from 1993-99.
A 1981 graduate of Riverheads High School, Ramsey attended Piedmont Virginia Community College and is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree in education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He lives in Lexington, Va, and is engaged to Susan "Sam" Abe.
