Tyler Cox is going into his second year as an assistant coach for the Southern Virginia University baseball program.

Cox played during the 2010-2013 seasons and helped win more games (87) in program history while helping the Knights to postseason appearances each year. Cox also participated on the 2011 squad — baseball's winningest season in its 14-year history - with a 30-10 mark and a second-place finish at nationals.

In his four years, Cox set all-time records such as second in career games started (130), third in RBI (110), total bases (211) and hits (149). He also tied for the Knights' home run lead (3) while ranking second in slugging (.567) and on-base percentage (.457) and third in batting average (.367).

Cox played for the Santa Fe Fuego in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and helped them to a Pecos League championship and Northern Division title during the summer of 2014.

He graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management and Leadership from Southern Virginia University in May 2014.

Tyler and his wife, MaKenzie, a member of the women's soccer and softball programs at Southern Virginia, reside in Buena Vista.
