Baseball's Critchfield Earns All-State Honor

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Southern Virginia University first baseman Cole Critchfield was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State second team after a successful sophomore season and earning All-Capital Athletic Conference first team honors. 

Critchfield led the Knights to one of the most successful seasons in recent history and the program's first CAC postseason appearance with a team-high 34 RBIs while hitting .353. Additionally, Critchfield boasted a .393 on-base percentage, eight doubles, three home runs, and 11 stolen bases. In early March, he also blasted a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth against SUNY-Canton.

The Star Valley, Wyoming native recorded 49 hits with 17 multi-hit games.

VaSID names 27 all-state teams in 15 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a University or conference in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
