Knights Complete Sweep of Kangaroos

BUENA VISTA, Va. – After a come-from-behind walk-off victory against SUNY-Canton on Friday, the Southern Virginia University baseball team made a statment on Saturday, beating the Kangaroos 18-8.
The Knights (8-7) had their way at the plate, compiling 20 total hits in the high-scoring affair. Leading the Knights was infielder Ryan Morin with three hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored, while Caleb Layden also had three hits with two RBIs. Stetson Kay, Brady Lamb, and Canon Anderson finished the game with a pair of hits and two RBIs each. Anderson also tacked on three stolen bases for the game.
Freshman Matt Roll came off the bench for the highlight of the game, blasting a two-run home run to center field in the seventh inning.
Senior Seth Burris pitched an excellent game for Southern Virginia, lasting seven innings and giving up only three earned runs while striking out six Kangaroos' (0-5) hitters.
The Knights will have a week off before hosting Capital Athletic Conference opponent Mary Washington on Wednesday, March 21 at 3:45 p.m. at Parry McCluer HS.
