The two squads last met just six days ago, which saw Eastern Mennonite take a 9-5 victory over Southern Virginia in Buena Vista, Va. The Royals tallied nine runs through 8.5 innings before the Knights put across five of their own in the bottom of the ninth; however, it was too little, too late as Eastern Mennonite took the win.
About the Knights
Southern Virginia is looking to snap a current eight-game skid as it travels to Eastern Mennonite. In its most recent defeat, the Knights dropped both games of a doubleheader against No. 17 Salisbury University.
Freshman catcher Ryan Gabriel leads the Knights offensively with a .312 average on the year to go along with 16 RBI and two homeruns. The Southern Virginia pitching staff has accumulated a 6.30 ERA on the season while holding opponents to a .331 average.
About the Royals
A member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), Eastern Mennonite is currently recording the most victories since its 2002 campaign when it won 29 games. The Royals are coming off a doubleheader split with ODAC member Virginia Wesleyan University.
Senior outfielder Adam Posey leads all Royal hitters with a .424 average on the season to go along with 23 RBI. The pitching staff has a 5.93 ERA while holding opponents to a .332 batting average.
