The two squads played twice on different dates during the 2013 season, one at Southern Virginia and one at Eastern Mennonite. The teams split the games with the Knights taking the first contest, 13-6, while the Royals came away with the victory in the second game two weeks later by a 12-5 margin.
About the Knights
Southern Virginia is looking to snap a recent losing skid as it hosts Eastern Mennonite on Thursday. This will be the second game in as many days for the Knights. Southern Virginia's most recent defeat came in a single game with CAC opponent Mary Washington last night as the Eagles escaped with a 15-5 victory.
Freshman catcher Ryan Gabriel leads the Knights' hitting attack, posting a .316 batting average on the year to go along with 12 RBI and two home runs from the plate. Senior Mitch Mantle leads all Southern Virginia hitters with 14 RBI on the season. Knight pitchers are posting a 6.31 ERA and are holding opponents to a .321 batting average.
About the Royals
Eastern Mennonite, a member of the NCAA Division III Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), is coming off a hard-fought 8-4 loss to Bridgewater Wednesday night. The Royals are in last place in current ODAC standings.
Senior outfielder/pitcher Adam Posey leads all Royal hitters with a .439 average on the year to go along with 23 RBI, going 58-132 from the plate this season. The pitching staff has a 6.01 ERA during its 2014 campaign while holding its opponents to a .331 batting average.
