Baseball to Play its Inaugural Fall World Series this Weekend

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University baseball team is preparing to wrap up its fall season on Friday and Saturday with the program's inaugural 2012 Fall World Series as the program enters its fourteenth year of existence.

"It's an exciting time to be involved with Southern Virginia University baseball," said fourth-year Head Coach Logan Mann. "The first ever intrasquad Fall World Series at Southern Virginia this weekend is a testament to the growth of this program since its inception."

To finish a four-week session of practices, Southern Virginia has split its squad into the Green team that will be coached by Coach Mann and the White Team that will be headed by Assistant Head Baseball Coach Dave Ramsey for a three-game Green vs. White intrasquad series.

The first contest of the best-of-three series between the Green and White teams is a seven-innings single game on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at the Parry McCluer High School baseball field. The following day, Saturday, Oct. 27, is set up for a double-header at the same location, starting at 10 a.m. and finishing with the final game at 12:30 p.m.

"This weekend will give anybody that wants to watch a taste of what to look forward to in our upcoming 2013 spring season," said Mann.
