LEXINGTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia University baseball team lost its ninth straight game and third straight at Washington and Lee University on Thursday falling 5-9 to the Generals in nine innings at Cap't Dick Smith Field.

Washington and Lee (8-8) took a 0-1 lead over the Knights in the bottom of the second inning, but Southern Virginia (2-10) responded with three runs during its next at bat in the top of the third.

Four different Knights—Mitch Stevenson (Muskogee, Okla.), Andrew Snider (Lancaster, Calif.), Trager Hintze (St. George, Utah) and Tyler Cox (Forest, Miss.)—singled during the third, while Barrett Price (Georgetown, S.C.) reached on an error by the Generals' short stop giving Southern Virginia a 3-1 advantage after three-and-a-half innings.

The Knights still held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh before Washington and Lee exploded for seven runs—five earned—on six hits against Southern Virginia reliever Brady Grisham (Anchorage, Ala.).

Trailing 3-9 with only two more turns at the plate, Southern Virginia rallied to score two runs in the top of the eighth cutting its deficit to four runs (5-9), but the Knights were unable to add any additional runs in their final at bat and dropped their third straight at Cap'n Dick Smith Field this season.

Stevenson led the Knights going 3-for-5 at the plate, while Cox, Hintze and Snider each recorded two hits against the Generals.
