Baseball Splits With Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. The Southern Virginia Baseball team earned a split with Guilford College today to take their record to 2-6.

The Knights took game one by a score of 6-2. Five Knight players had multiple hits, while Grant Woods and Brandon Miller each collected two RBI's. Woods singled to left field in the fifth inning to drive home Logan Mann and Jake Johnson for the tying, go ahead and game winning runs. Michael Edstrom pitched seven strong innings, gave up five hits, two runs (one unearned) and struck out six. 

In the second game, SVU fell behind early as Guilford scored five runs in the first and one in the second. The Knights fought back in the fourth and fifth innings with six runs of their own. In the bottom of the fifth, Guilford struck again with two runs, which ended up being the difference in the game. Drew Ludwig led the way for the Knights, going 2-4 with a run and two RBI's, and Justin Eggers also went 2-4 with two runs scored.

The Knights return to action today at Perry McClure High School as they host Maine-Presque Isle in a double header that is set to begin at 12pm.
