BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia University Director of Athletics Jason Lamb today announced the addition of men's and women's golf as the university's 21st and 22nd NCAA Division III sponsored sports, respectively, beginning fall 2017.

"We are extremely excited to bring men's and women's golf back as varsity sports," said Lamb. "We look forward to competing within the Capital Athletic Conference and bringing the best young Division III golfers to Buena Vista."

Among Capital Athletic Conference members, Southern Virginia is now the eighth school to offer men's golf and sixth school to offer women's golf. With six participating schools, the CAC will now recognize women's golf as its 21st championship sport, which includes an automatic NCAA-tournament bid for the winner of the conference championship.

"Virginia is a beautiful place to play golf. We are looking for a great coach who will build a successful program," Lamb concluded.
